Olive oil is one of the best natural products for your skin, body and hair. It has an array of uses and is extremely popular in both cooking and beauty care. Olive oil skin care is extremely popular in Europe, particularly Italy, and given the perfect complexions on the women there, it makes perfect sense. Remember, make it always Organic.

Coconut oil works equally well but since coconut oil solidifies at cold temperatures and liquefies at warmer temperature it is very difficult to have skin care products that stays at one temperature.  Combining the both oils is the best of both worlds. And I do that with many of my products - use both oils as well as a few others.  But the main ingredient is always Olive Oil.

All of my Infused Herbal Oils for my Herbal Skin Salves are only infused in Organic Olive Oil and all of my Lotion Bars, Espresso Coffee Scrubs, Whipped Body Butters and so forth all have organic olive oil.

I still personally prefer Olive Oil to Coconut Oil as plain skin oil applied at nighttime. Especially around those lip, brow, forehead and crows feet wrinkles.  Just a tad is all that is needed.   Actually, I have a 1.oz glass dropper full of organic olive oil and just add 1 or 2 drops in my palms and rub where I need it. During the morning I use my own Baby Soft Baby Soft Soothing BalmSoothing Balm for the face, which has both Olive Oil and Coconut Oil.

There are just so many accounts of the world’s great beauties asked about their secret beauty routines and, not surprisingly, the answers seem to ALWAYS include olive oil! Most famous woman is Sofia Loren…when asked what she owes her ageless beauty to, 79 yr old Sophia Loren enthusiastically says ‘Olive Oil’.  She uses it basically at night when removing makeup and just a little more before retiring.  No wonder she is still, at 79 years old, the spokeswoman for ageless beauty!

Julia Roberts,  who is known for her beautiful hands, among other things, uses olive oil as a daily moisturizer for her hands. Olive oil penetrates deeply into the skin and into the structure of the nails. It nourishes with a protective barrier against the drying effects of the sun, wind, and other harsh, drying elements our hands are subjected to.

My Winter Brew Lotion Bar is made with Olive Oil and Castor Oil among other things Winter Brewespecially for the hands.  It glides on so well and penetrates fast. It really has many uses not just for hands, but for any dryness even lips.  Great for wind burned face, lips and hands.

A little science on Olive Oil…

Olive oil is rich in Polyphenols, which are POWERFUL anti-oxidants great for their anti-aging contributions. They are natural anti-inflammatory, which, as we know, are huge factors in healthy, smooth skin. One of the most important of the polyphenols is Hydroxytyrosol. It is an extremely rare, highly potent polyphenol.  This particular polyphenol can actually slow the aging process in the skin by stabilizing the cell plasma membrane.

The Benefits of Olive Oil applied to the skin…

• Minimizes the look of fine lines and wrinkles and gives a bright healthy tone to the skin.

• Guards against the signs of premature aging

• Fights against free-radical damage

• Increases the skin’s ability to stay moisturized

• Feels great!

So the next time you think of healthy skin think Olive Oil.  It is a very simple inexpensive way of keeping your skin healthy and glowing.  The rest is all Marketing and Packaging.  Neither Marketing nor Packaging will do the work that plain all food products can do for your health, skin and body. KEEP IT SIMPLE!
